MEETING DEKO
It was Wednesday evening and John and peters (New Hope music venue) had its usual “invitational” band playing amazing covers of great old songs. I’d sat in before so when The band went on a break I went to talk to the keyboard player about sitting in. I greeted him and the gentleman (bruce) he was with. Right then I had a tic and said to Bruce “I have Tourettes”. he said "so do my two kids”. I found that pretty damn amazing. Then I asked him what he did. He said he has a record label and I said I have music. I can only say …What A devine appointment!
The next day I emailed Bruce with samples of my work and how it was awesome to me to find out about his kids and our affinity with Tourette's. Bruce and I definitely hit it off and soon I was visiting the label location and meeting all the cool people at Deko Entertainment.
one thing that sticks in my mind is something Bruce said during one of our conversations. "Let's be friends. The rest will fall into place." Never did I expect to meet a record label who could help me get my music out a mere 10 miles from where I live! Further, someone there having two kids with Tourette's, understanding it and Be so damn nice and transparent?? But then again, I do Believe that we attract more than we realize so…here it is.
ABOUT THIS ALBUM: “SDC” is a collection of songs that I recorded between 1994 and 2006. many of them have been released before and more than a few have not. Bringing them together in this, the form of a new album is a great way to bring forward a number of songs I believe in. And what a great opportunity to do so. So ….here's some info about the music and the people behind it.
I decided to select tunes from several albums (2006 called ‘hypnotized’ and an album which was never fully released from 1995 called ‘bigger than this’). The fact is there are a number of songs I can’t wait to share, that will just have to wait to the NEXT release. I feel quite good about these current selections for SDC. I derived the new title from: songs the “final” manifestation in this realm, dreams for what moved aspects of these pieces into my consciousness and circumstance singular… which certainly sparked the Dreams.
These songs are about: egocentricity and letting go, being blown away by a homeless artist who loves God, the tragedy and triumph of Ophelia, how "we" are bigger than you and me, mental illness, flying around like a fool for love, recalling childhood abuse, the calling of universal love, chasing a cat around for attention and… being rather happy (once again) in the sunlight.
